- Greater New York Dental Meeting and Public Health Awards “Waterfalls” initiative for continuous education

New York, United States of America, 7th December 2021: Marking the 97th edition for The Greater New York Dental Meeting and Public Health (GNYDM), which was launched earlier this week in New York, and to appreciate the pivotal role portrayed by the United Arab Emirates in the field of promoting continuous medical education and emphasizing the importance of international intensification when it comes to supporting and empowering the healthcare sector, “Waterfalls” initiative was named the “Best Online Platform for Continuous Medical Education” during the GNYDM awarding ceremony.

The award ceremony was gracefully attended by a delegation from the United Arab Emirates headed by Her Excellency Amna Binzall Al Mehiri, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in New York, and accompanied by Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of the Waterfalls Initiative for Continuous Education from UAE to the World and Chairman of INDEX Holding. They were also joined by Colonel Abdulrahman Ali Al Mansouri, Director of the Waterfalls Initiative and Director of the Executive Office in the Department of Behavioral Rewards at the Ministry of Possibilities, in order to witness the proud moment. The award was presented by Dr. Robert R. Edwab, Executive Director of GNYDM, to Her Excellency Al Mehiri on behalf of Lt.-Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. 
In the first picture the dentist presenting the award to Her Exellency the Counsel General of the UAE is Dr. James H Doundoulakis, General Chairman of the Greater New York Dental Meeting.

The award comes as an affirmation of the great efforts that the UAE and “Waterfalls” initiative took upon in order to elevate and empower the medical community, hence preparing them to face global health crises. Since the inception of the “Waterfalls” initiative, the educational hub has supported more than 84 organizations and international medical, scientific, and academic unions, in addition to providing more than 559 virtually specialized sessions that hold accredited scientific hours from the most prominent and prestigious international academic bodies. The initiative also hosted more than 347 lecturers, specialists, and experts to partake in a mission to enrich educational materials that cater to 15 different medical fields. The “Waterfalls” Initiative, developed by The Department of Behavioral Rewards in the Ministry of Possibilities in cooperation with INDEX Holding, aims to unite the population under one healthy and informative Emirati umbrella. 

Due to the collective support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and the rich follow-up and supervision of His Highness Lt.-Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and as part of The Department of Behavioural Rewards in The Ministry of Possibilities, “Waterfalls” has successfully empowered and educated more than one million health professionals from 197 different countries, leading to support those courageous front-liners who address the pandemic in all aspects of medicine and humanitarianism.

Her Excellency Amna Binzall Al Mehiri, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in New York has stated, “This great achievement is the result of the UAE’s wise leadership, directives, and continuous support for all health sectors, thus enhancing their capabilities in facing global challenges. The UAE continues to advocate for good, using its prestigious position on the world map to effectively respond to and limit the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are proud to be the first recipients of the award that represents an initiative which was born outside of The United States of America.”

The awards ceremony during the GNYDM also highlighted the UAE’s 50th National Day celebration, which is annually organized in New York by The UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition – AEEDC Dubai, and held in front of the coveted GNYDM slogan statue.

The “Waterfalls” initiative continues to achieve global leadership in the field of medicine, as it has also recently won The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Award (PAM), which was received by His Highness Lt.-Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. This came as a token of appreciation from the people of the Mediterranean countries to the great leaders of the UAE. The awarding ceremony which took place in Rome, Italy was attended by His Excellency Sergio Piazzi, Secretary-General of PAM, members of the General Secretariat, and a vast number of officials and representatives from various international associations.

The Global New York Dental Meeting and Public Health is considered the largest non-profit dental meeting and exhibition in the United States. Founded in 1923 and celebrating its 97th edition, GNYDM will host over 52,000 health care professionals from 156 countries and will feature more than 1,600 entities that will demonstrate the newest technology in the dentistry profession.
