APDC - ASIA PACIFIC’S DENTAL PROFESSIONALS TO GATHER IN HONG KONG

To be held on June 17-19 in the healthcare and medical research hub of Hong Kong, the 38th Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC 2016) has attracted the leading lights in the field who will address all the developments and advancements that will impact the future of dentistry.

The lineup of luminaries in attendance includes representatives from or nominated from the FDI World Dental Federation, the world’s leading organization for the dental profession and the representative body for over a million dentists.

Prof. Ming-Lun Hsu will speak on the “Bone Biomechanics of Implant Dentistry”.
Dr. Gerhard Seeberger will speak on “Modern Implant Solutions: Respecting Biology turns into Success”.
Dr. Hiroshi Ogawa will speak on “Improving the Population’s Oral Health by Targeting NCD Common Risk Factors”.
Keynote Speakers include:

Internationally recognised researcher and clinician Prof. Monty Duggal, who has published more than 130 research papers and is author of Restorative Techniques in Paediatric Dentistry, which has been published in seven languages and sold over 16,000 copies worldwide, will speak on “Innovations in Dental Traumatology: Tradition Versus a Bright New Future”.
Dr. Stanley Malamed, who has authored more than 150 scientific papers and 17 chapters in various medical and dental journals and textbooks in the areas of physical evaluation, emergency medicine, local anesthesia, sedation and general anesthesia, will speak on “Emergency Airway Management”, “Is the Mandibular Block Passé?” and “Emergency Medicine – Cardiac Emergencies and Sudden Cardiac”.
The broad range of Congress Workshops provide a rare opportunity to learn from the experts who will be in attendance at APDC 2016, and include:

“Orthodontic Dental Diagnosis with Virtual Models” by Dr. Yang Yanqi.
The International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE) Workshop on “Multi-Disciplinary Treatment Planning using Smilestream.com” by Dr. David Dana.
“Integrating Laser Technology into Clinical Dentistry (WFLD)” by Prof. Loh Hong-sai, Dr. Ambrose Chan, Dr. Kenneth Luk, Dr. Philip Tsui and Dr. Ryan Seto.
“Digital Impression Made Easy for Daily Dental Practice: Simple, Efficient, Effective” by Dr. Daniel Fang.
“Innovative Implant Concepts for Limited Space Situations in the Anterior Region” by Dr. Giovanni Polizzi.
“Clinical Essentials of Access Preparation, Cleaning, Shaping an Obturation Procedures” by Dr. Bernice Ko.
“Systematic Smile Makeover – Communication for the Dental Team and Patient” by Dr. Tse Tak-on with Mr. Lamberto Villani.
In all, this year’s Asia Pacific Dental Congress will provide continuing education opportunities for dentists from all fields of endeavour, as well as world-class content for researchers and industry supporters. Participants will also have ample opportunities to catch up with friends and colleagues, meet some of the leading lights whose names they are already familiar with, and enjoy the unique blend of contemporary and traditional that is the vibrant host city of Hong Kong.

About the Asia Pacific Dental Federation

APDF/APRO aims to:
Enroll all National Dental Associations in the Asia Pacific region, irrespective of size, as members of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation/Asia Pacific Regional Organisation (APDF/APRO)
Encourage all National Dental Associations in the Asia Pacific region to become members of the World Dental Federation (FDI) of which APDF/APRO is the regional organisation
Recommend Policies and Programmes for the promotion of good oral health, continuing dental education and advancement of dental education
Develop resources for dental education and the promotion of oral health
Conduct activities and continuing dental education programmes in order to upgrade the quality of dentistry in the region
To upgrade the skills, expertise and knowledge of dental practitioners so that they may serve the general population better
Develop the International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE) as the APDF/APRO’s integral and effective educational component of APDF/APRO
Seek cooperation with industry in oral health and dental education
Ensure that all national dental associations are equal members in the Federation/Regional Organisation
